What can the serial number tell you?
New format (2023 - Present)
If you got stuck with a new serial number, it won't tell you much. You'll have to contact Bearcat MFG at www.customerservice@bearcatmfg.com or call 1 (888) 897-0575 and one of our customer service agents should be able to help you find the information you're looking for.
Old format (Prior to 2023)
The Serial Number used to identify the Rear Assembly on a Bearcat Asphalt Distributors provides the following information.
- Date of manufacture
- Model of Distributor
- Over-all length of spray-bar
- Number of folding wing sections
- Special application information
The serial number in the example tells us that this machine was manufactured November 1st of 2021. It's a 502 and that it has a 14-foot triple-fold spray-bar setup for rubberized asphalt distribution. Let's break it down.
What does it all mean?
Date of Manufacture
Date of Manufacture in green in the illustration is called out numerically as the month, day, and year of manufacture.
Model of Distributor
BC501
Earlier machines had the Skip-line based Computerized Rate Control system.
BC502
Late model machines use the Plus 1 Computerized Rate Control system.
Length of Spray-bar
This 2-digit number calls out the over-all length of the spray bar as measured in feet. Another simple way to figure out your bar length is to count the number of spray tips (don't count the line markers) and divide by 3. There are 3 spray valves per foot on a standard bar.
Wing Sections
The letter here will tell you how many wing sections the rear assembly has.
| S | SINGLE |
| D | DOUBLE |
| T | TRIPLE |
Special Application
The letter in this position will tell you what the special application is.
| R | RUBBER |
| <BLANK> | STANDARD |
